Dominion Diving Ltd officially takes possession!

Dominion Diving Limited, Canada’s Superior Force in Marine Service, is pleased to announce new vessels in Dartmouth for the innovation in Atlantic Canada. They are adding two new boats, and they will prove to push forward the local economy and grow the exposure for the local economy.

The Halifax Harbour was abuzz on December 08, 2020, as Dominion Diving took ownership of their new Damen Stantug 1205 vessels. These tugs mark the first time a company in the Harbour brought home brand new tonnage since the 1960s. What a fantastic addition to the cove. What is unique about Dominion Diving is that just about everything becomes able to complete more than one job. These sister-tugs are no different and were built to be tugboats (with the primary purpose of tug boats due to their extremely high bollard pull for their size) but will be classed multi-purpose vessels.

Dominion Diving Ltd will use the tugs to support pilot runs, general tug service, marine construction activities, fisheries and scientific research, tidal energy projects, diving/ROV support, and other marine activities in Canada and North America.

They will also be made available in partnership with ocean-tech companies operating from the nearby Dartmouth-based COVE (Centre for Ocean Ventures and Entrepreneurship), which provides research facilities for new companies in the marine technology sector.

“These tugs can turn on a dime and still have 9 cents worth of change” – Carolynn Lohnes, standing at Duck Rock,
